A Case Study in Medical Malpractice and Failure to Diagnose
Recently, the family of a woman who had died of ovarian cancer came to my office wanting to sue the surgeon who had operated on her – alleging that he had missed a large portion of the tumor. Frequently, this kind of mistake does not qualify as medical malpractice and the family had been turned down by several other lawyers before coming to me.
However, after taking the time to ask a few questions, I discovered that the reason the cancer had progressed to that critical state was because the lab that took her pap smears had missed the otherwise clear signs of developing ovarian cancer.
