Causes of Truck Accidents
Phoenix, Arizona, Truck Accident Attorney
More Than 30 Years Experience | Historic Results
Truck accidents almost inevitably result in serious injuries or wrongful death. Sadly, many of these serious and/or fatal accidents could have been avoided entirely if the driver and trucking company had simply followed standard regulations.
I am attorney Stephen I. Leshner, a personal injury lawyer with more than 30 years of experience. Over the course of my three decades of practice, I have successfully handled numerous tractor trailer accident cases involving everything from spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries to wrongful death. My experience, knowledge and historic success has earned me an AV©-Rating*, and led to induction into the prestigious American Board of Trial Advocates.

Violation of Federal Regulations
One of the principal causes of 18-wheeler accidents is the failure to follow Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FCMSRs). For example, truck drivers are only supposed to drive a pre-determined number of hours a week. However, some truck companies ask their employees to drive more or place higher demands on their drivers, forcing them to drive beyond their hour limit.
Other common violations of federal trucking regulations include:
- Failure to properly maintain the vehicle
- Failure to follow cargo and weight restrictions
- Failure to provide and enforce accurate log books
- Failure to hire safe drivers
Other Causes of Trucking Accidents
I also handle truck accident cases stemming from improper cargo loading or the failure of a particular part. Improper loading can lead to debris falling out on the road or may cause a truck to tip. Failed brakes and steering columns can cause a driver to lose control. Of course, inattentive driving is also a primary cause of accidents, no matter what else is wrong with the truck.
As an experienced personal injury lawyer, I know how to identify the various causes of semi-truck accidents. My ability to effectively negotiate with insurance companies, as well as prepare strong cases for trial has led to millions of dollars in compensation for my clients.
